Let's look at this from the metaphor of gears on a bicycle.

Gears have many cogs. Each cog is a different size, and will rotate at a predetermined velocity. That's how cogs work. But each cog can only become engaged in its work when acted upon by the bicycle chain.

The cogs serve the chain, so the chain is in charge.

The chain is the boss!

Hence, I ask you again, "As a busy professional over 40, are you still happy to be a small cog in the big wheel of the industry you're in?"
