Personal Training
Welcome to the world of Personal Training!
Andrew Hardwick gained his qualifications as an International Certified Personal Trainer (CPT) through the U.S. National Academy of Sports Medicine (NASM) & City Fitness Gyms NZ.
Being a CPT enables Andrew to offer Personal Training options, either as a standalone service and/or as an adjunct to his other services
Andrew is also a Sport Wellington Approved Provider of Group Strength & Balance Program, through his Tai Chi Classes, called "Not Strictly Tai Chi" (See our Tai Chi page for info)
He has been teaching Tai Chi through group classes and 1-1 coaching for over 10 years. Classes can be for any age group, and Andrew is soon to launch a Tai Chi program at a local kindergarten, for 4 - 6 year olds.
How I can help you with exercise
Exercise is one of the most important and versatile therapies, and can either be easily integrated with any of the other services I offer, or used on its own. The choice is yours!
My process
At your first Personal Training session we will complete a Physical Activity Readiness Questionnaire (PAR-Q). This form collects a combination of subjective and objective information which will help me to assist you in planning an exercise program which takes into account your medical health history, as well as your goals
After that first session we can meet for personal training sessions at intervals which work for you. Some people choose once a week, some people choose more often. The choice is yours. You can also choose sessions of 30, 60 or 90 minutes, depending on your preferences.
Do you need to be a member of a gym to have Personal Training with me?
Well the simple answer is NO!
Some people just don't like gyms, and besides, there are other ways to exercise
The type of exercise I offer will be primarily body-weight exercises which require little to no exercise equipment.
On good weather days we could even exercise outdoors, where practical and safe
If we do use a gym, my venue is Upper Hutt Fitness, 212 Main Road, Upper Hutt
Membership of the gym is not essential, and the cost of entry, as my guest, will be included in your session fee. All gym based sessions subject to Upper Hutt Fitness staffed hours.
Whether you choose to exercise with me at the gym, at work, or outside, I will help you to find simple exercises that match your abilities and goals, which are not a strain on your time, and can also be fun!
