Exercise

Exercise is something I have enjoyed doing all my life. Today I am a member of City Fitness, where I attend gym 3 - 5 days a week, plus spin class.

 

My favourite sport to play has always been tennis. At school I could often be found on one of the tennis courts, pretending to be Bjorn Borg, one of the sporting heroes of my generation!  I also played a lot of football when I was younger, and even had schoolboy trials for my favourite team Manchester City, where I met my favourite footballer of all time, former England Captain Colin Bell

 

Martial arts has been part of my life ever since I saw my first Bruce Lee movie.  For a while I trained in 3 martial arts, namely Taekwon-Do, Tai Chi and Kendo all in the same week!

How I can help you with exercise

 

Exercise is one of the most important and versatile therapies, and can be easily integrated with any of the other services I offer.  Whether your goal is to motivate yourself to lose weight, reduce stressstop smoking and drinking, or to improve your sleep, strength, balance or flexibility, then exercise can help!

 

My process

 

As well as motivating you to exercise with mindset tools from Hypnotherapy, NLP and Coaching, I also blend Tai Chi forms with other gentle exercises.  I can do this 1-2-1 and for public or private groups and workshops. I have enjoyed training people for over 10 years, using the following skills

 

  • Taekwon-Do: I am a Black Belt 1st Dan. For a time I was an Assistant Instructor of Taekwon-Do, helping to run classes for children in schools in Lower Hutt. 

  • Kendo: I reached the rank of 5th Qu before having to stop on medical advice. However, I have still helped others with their own Kendo goals. Please enjoy this video testimonial

Personal Training

 

I am currently studying for the National Academy of Sports Medicine (NASM) Certificate in Personal Training, which is taught through City Fitness Gyms. My goal is to become a REPS (Registered Exercise Professional) Certified Personal Trainer (CPT), and so add yet another dimension to the holistic mind and body services I already provide
